I have missed posting each of my children's birthday cakes from September to now! So I thought I had better add them quickly because September is going to roll round again and I will be a whole year behind! I'm going to work backwards and start with my youngest son's birthday.
He turned 6 the beginning of April and wanted a Lego themed cake. He really loves baseball, so I thought I'd combine the two and since he wasn't having a friend party I thought I'd really go to town! Note to self: Never be too ambitious!
This cake was a complete disaster! I know looking at it you may think "wow it's great" but believe me when I say it was a disaster, because it was. I took this picture just before his right arm fell off and then he completely fell forward. I guess he had a big head! Oh should I say it was more me getting the big head and
"Pride always comes before a fall" Proverbs 16:18.
The Lord is so good to correct me whenever "I" think "I" can do something amazing. In reality I need Him so much, but sometimes I just don't like to admit it. I really need His help when it comes to caring for my family, meeting their every need and I need Him when I make cakes, because at the end of the day I want to give Him the glory and not myself!
My little boy was so excited to see him stand for 1 second and I felt so bad for him when it fell. He looked at me and said "His belt still looks great Mum!" Sweet boy. At least he enjoyed eating his hat and head and it wasn't sad to cut it as he was already disassembled!
So the only advise I can give you on making a 3D Cake is what not do! The cupcakes on the other hand were a big hit with his school friends and they enjoyed eating the Lego pieces!
Tomorrow I'll post my eldest son's cake, which ended up being great fun!
